NEWS UPDATE OCT 2011.

 

    I have handed over the running of the NFASS Art Pavilion to Mrs Courtney Leggett.

    It was quite a challenge at first and I promised to do a 5 year stint and now the five years are up I`m putting that behind me and enjoying learning to play the ukelele with the Waterside Ukelele Jam crowd. We`ve already done some `jamming` in Hythe, Fawley and at the Pulse Festival at Marchwood.....Saturday 26th November in Hythe by Waitrose [afternoon] is the next jam.

 

    Painting...Have been a bit lazy lately. Had a couple of commissions one completed, one to do.

                   Working on one of boys in the mud at Ashlett which is not a commission.

   

    Detecting.. if you have lost a ring or similar I can search for it providing you have a reasonable

                       idea as to where you lost it.   Free service locally. Record = 3 rings found out of                     5 up to now.

 

                     There is another Gervase A. Gregory only without the `A`,  believe it or not, and he is a very talented lad who does break dancing, I, at my age, could only break a leg doing what he does.  If you see this.....  Gervase  Breakdancer Gregory....get in touch.

    Postcards.... you can still get some of mine and others, at the Herald office in Hythe.

New Forest Show Art Pavilion update for July 2011.

Note for all stewards in the Art Pavilion. 2011.

 

If anyone makes a complaint with regard to anything in  the Art Pavilion

please note the complainer,  the complaint, and the date in our log book, then get me so that I can thrash out the problem with the complainer there and then.

 

The  wording of the labelling needs to be exactly as I have described

on the invitation, Please be neat and tidy with black block letters.

 

We are to have the level wood floor after all which is good.

We will be using the old Art Pavilion entrance for the last time,

as Malcolm has the embryo of a design which looks good

for 2012.

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th July 2011

We will need as many helpers as we can get to put up the screens, etc and all the other necessary jobs ,remembering that we only have 4 hours to assemble the whole show when the marquee and raised wooden floor are  ready for us to work in.

 

Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July 2011

These are the days for bringing in and hanging artwork,

Bring your works to the New Park Entrance where you will find directions to the Art Pavilion. Please do not hang about or get in the way of the hanging group.  There will be no access beyond the receiving tables in the Art Pavilion for other than stewards.

NFASS UPDATE for May 2011.

 

Rotas for show.... These will now have been received by those

          willing and valuable volunteers artists.  26th27th28th.July.          They will get their tickets for their appropriate days and a supply of food vouchers nearer the date.

                              There can always be emergencies when you could not attend but please let me know. Especially the judges.

 

Delivery of artwork .... Usual way for those who have shown before,

                              ie. will be signposted into the disabled reserve 

           [which is very near the Art Pavilion] but will only be open to artists for delivery of works on 23rd and 24th July from 9.00am to 12.00midday .

         If you have difficulty with lifting a work or a disablement then do ask at the tent for help. One of the artists will help you.

         On the Thursday J E B will want help with one of his sculptures.

 

Collection of artwork..... same place on the Friday 29th July 10 am until 2.00pm at which time outstanding works will be removed to the NFASS offices.

  Usually the Marquee has to be removed asap.

 

Memo, that pictures labelling must be legible in black block lettering, in the manner as supplied on the form and include a contact number so that if you sell a picture we can let you know,

 

Memo, again some of the pictures are a tad larger than rules, but if there is room they will be accomodated within reason .

 

Volunteers will be needed to set up the Marquee as soon as it is available [show toilets will be in place by then.]   Suggest the Saturday and Sunday 16th &17th July 2011 then we have the week to finish anything not done.  

 

Memo... NFASS will NOT be open to artists on the 25th July Monday only.

May update NFASS

  To the artists who will be helping on the

three days

of the show.

   Only half of the rota for the three days of

the show actually printed. Apologies.

   Those who are helping on the three days

of the show [26th27th28th July 2011]

will be notified very soon,

in fact you may already know.

   My sincere thanks go out to these helpers

 as without them the Art Pavilion would not exist.

 

  No more artists can enter for this years show.

  We have again some of the original artists

plus some new to this show.

 

  Note that this will be my last show as `the boss`,

 of the Art Pavilion.

 Courtney Leggett has been understudying this year

and will take over organising next years show [2012]

 from this September.

  I know you will all help her in this exacting job.

 

The Pavilion is getting known now as we had a

`wannashow` from Germany this year but that

was a little too far away.

Other news.

Christine Thackway rang me for information this am.

Nice to talk to her. Welcome to Barbara.

 

A rambling friend, Molly Betteridge, died last Monday.

after a very short ilness. Her husband Geoff is related to my wife.

 

I shall be at Lymington Oxfam on Wednesday as usual,

so if you have any old and unwanted coins, they

all help towards the Oxfam cause. I usually sell the coins

in 99p bags  as the school children like to collect these.

 The better coins are cased for adult collectors.

 

I`ve  hundreds of tadpoles in my pond so some of these will go to the kiddies at Fawley pre school. If you want any you will have to bring a jar.

 

I have completed my copy of a Murrillo picture in oils and I`m very pleased at the result.  This was good practice for a portrait that I wanted to do of a friend of mine, Mike Scammell, a well known

author based in the  USA.

 His brother Billie [now in that great theatre in the sky] is the poet of Hythe [Hants] and there is a blue plaque on their old house.

 Look up William Scammell on the internet.

 

Didn`t find much metal detecting last Sunday.

But I do have a Lazer B1 for sale, an  older machine

which has been repaired but is good and has found me

a lot of medieval and earlier stuff [hammereds etc.] £95.ono.
