Hello Gerv (and Dor),

Did I tell you I'd seen your book in Waterstones in Lymington? There was only one copy left and the card under it said "Beauty on Every Page" so I took a quick snap with my mobile for you (attached).

Subject: Little Knoll Press newsletter - Bestseller around the Fastnet

Dear booklovers
This newsletter comes after two months with lots of news –

A LIFETIME IN POSTCARDS
Gervase Gregory's book 'A Lifetime in Postcards' continues to be in
demand and is on sale now from Queensmead Village Shop, Beaulieu,
Langdown Activities Farm, Ashurst, and the New Forest Wildlife Centre,
Ashurst, as well as P&GWells Booksellers, Winchester, Exbury Gardens
Gift Shop, Beaulieu Motor Museum Gift Shop, the Maritime Museum Gift
Shop at Bucklers Hard, Waterstones shops and The Herald, Hythe.

WATERSTONES WEST QUAY, SOUTHAMPTON, BOOK EVENT 26th SEPT
On September 26th Waterstones, West Quay, Southampton, are hosting a
book launch and signing event for 'A Lifetime in Postcards' at. We would
love to see you there, so please take a look on the website -
www.littleknollpress.co.uk and let me know if you would like to come.
(Of course you are also welcome to just turn up on the evening.)

NEW BOOKS
Some exciting new book projects are on their way, but as writing and
preparation of books takes a long time, this newsletter is to bring you
some of the best from books already done.

LITTLE KNOLL PRESS' BESTSELLER
Our bestselling book is 'Mr D's Thermal Cookbook', and I thought you
might like to know how travelled the book has become. On the website you
can get a glimpse of the places the book has been – across the Atlantic
(many times), around the Fastnet, around Britain and Europe, as well as
in countless home kitchens, tents, caravans and motorhomes. The new
recipe book will be out within the month and will no doubt also travel well!

THE HERALD BOOK LAUNCH
If you peep below the Thermal Cookbook post, you will see photos of The
Herald book launch for 'A Lifetime in Postcards'. Janice, who runs The
Herald publication, counted over 100 people attending the Saturday
morning launch. Thank you everyone who came. It is rewarding to see how
many people appreciate a book that has taken a year to create. I know
Gervase was delighted to see so many friends, acquaintances and new
people interested in his art and local stories.

THE DESERT IRIS
Alicia Over has achieved some further success in local sales of her
novel 'The Desert Iris'. The book is essentially her life story of the
times when she worked in Kuwait (late 1950s to mid 1960s) and it tells
of a time when Middle East politics seemed much simpler than they do
now. However, below the surface is a darker tale of spies and
subterfuge. The book is easy to read and a page turner that will take
you back to a different era.

TOBACCO WIFE
Very much a memoir; Natalie Wheatley narrates the difficult and
different lives that she led as the wife of a tobacco farmer/prospector.
In her book you will see an unusual expatriate life, but one that has
similarities to the experiences of many women who braved isolation and
separation from their children to live on remote tea and coffee
plantations, or, as with Winnie Tovey, to serve in hospitals far away
from their home country.

WINNIE & FRANK TOVEY
Winnie and Frank are enjoying living in their flat in Lymington. Their
books 'Stranger in Chaotung' and 'Cor Blimey! Where 'ave you come from?'
continue to sell in small volume, giving much pleasure to the readers,
as well as recognition of two extraordinary life stories. Frank had a
brief health problem earlier in the summer, but apart from that, they
are not letting their nine decades plus each hold them back.

I hope you have had a lovely summer, with the leisure to enjoy some of
the sunshine.
I'll update you soon on the new cookbook and future projects.
With best wishes
Jenny

Update on `A LIFETIME IN POSTCARDS`.

BOOK LAUNCH IN HYTHE ON 13TH JULY 2013.  10AM TO 12.30PM.

Janice Taylor editor of the well known local newspaper TheHerald has very kindly offered her offices in Hythe for the launching of my first book called A LIFETIME IN POSTCARDS.  by Gervase A Gregory,  a New Forest Artist.

The cover is shown here.
There are 87 coloured illustrations and over 50 sketches of local scenes, from Fawley to Burley.

There are O.S.Map references, anecdotes[ sometimes involving local people who know me,] and my efforts at poetry.
The book is suitable for all ages, one page has a little puzzle for children, another a harder poetic 6 mile walk for the walkers.
Bits of my life are threaded in here and there.
A bit expensive at £14.99 but with the rising costs it just has to be.

I will be signing these first editions so will be very pleased to see you personally at the launch.
Warmest regards,
                                     Gervase

Thursday 28 March 2013

book cover

MONTHLY MOAN.     A very cold  Thursday 28th March.

In about two months time, say end of May, my first book will be ready for sale.
It is called `A LIFETIME IN POSTCARDS`.
It consists of pictures, postcards and sketches , my own artwork,
based in the New Forest [Hampshire England]
plus anecdotes, my friends tales [that are printable],
most relating to the postcard on the page.
All ages can read it, suitable for young and old.
It is not a history lesson nor a pub guide but
most postcard pictures contain map references
so that you can walk from one postcard scene
to the next, you will have to find your own way
I`m afraid.  A good exercise.
There is one of the few bits of doggerel that
is a puzzle for you to solve and walk [6 miles].
It is costing a bomb [clue]  so the price has to be
around £15.    If you would like a first edition
signed and sent, send me your e- mail or a
telephone number with instructions.
My e-mail   gervaseag@onetel.com
All my warmest regards to those who see this.
                          Gervase.
