UPDATE DECEMBER 2009.

December 5th 2009.
WISHING ALL MY BLOG READERS A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A HEALTHY AND WEALTHY NEW YEAR.

   N.F.A.S.S. New Forest Show news.....Art Pavilion. 27th 28th 29th July 2010
Everything is going to plan. Up to now there are 72 artists so there is room for more.
Try to send in your forms as soon as possible.  Those who have been sent forms but do not intend showing, would they let me know if possible please by telephone  [02380 898413] as I cannot promise entry on a late form.

Starting January 2010, I will be with Talk Talk and  I may have a changed e-mail address.
I will let everyone know in due course.

                                        IMPORTANT.

NEEDED for the New Forest Show Art Pavilion 27.28.29. July 2010
SKULPTORS / RTESSES    to exhibit 3 of their works   [Resin Metal Stone Clay ]
WOOD CARVERS              to exhibit 3 of their works.
SPONSORS                      to exhibit their logo on front of Art Pavilion Marquee .
                            ring 02380 898413 Gervase    or   02380 844188 Alan.

Now.....I recently [ on Friday 13th Nov ] held a one day one man show at the
Master Builders Hotel at Bucklers Hard and athough the day was very wet and windy, I sold 6 watercolour pictures and had a very reasonable and respectable set of people and artists viewing all through the day.
If you are interested in a single or group booking for the excellent `Chichester` room [about 40 pics] it has to be on Fridays up to the end of March 2010 but is ABSOLUTELY FREE.
I felt a  10% of my sales to their Charity would be fair.
Whilst there I had an excellent Sausage and Mash washed down with a cool Pino Grigio.
In all a very good day.
Make doubly sure your booking is secure though.

HYTHE[Soton] LIBRARY,  are showing a small selection of the works of the Waterside Art Group.
Very professional but reasonably priced and not big, the pictures [all originals] make excellent prezzies for loved ones.

That`s it for now.                                         Merry Christmas Everyone.
You as well Barry, and you Al
 Top Tip.
For Christmas...  A Glass full of Marmite, topped with shaving foam, makes quite a convincing pint of Guinness, and has the advantage of tasting nicer.

My exhibition at the Master Builder`s Hotel this Friday 13th 11 09

I am showing and perhaps selling some 30 of my  watercolours and acrylics plus prints, notelets and postcards of the New Forest  area.
This will be only on this Friday 13th [ lucky for me if anyone turns up ] at the MASTER BUILDER`S HOTEL at BUCKLER`S HARD.in the SIR FRANCIS CHICHESTER  room. 12 midday to 9 pm.

Carparking and entry is all free and I believe that if you have a `proper` 3 c  meal you will get a free room for the night with  someone you fancy !
This is a community effort and 10 % of my sales will go towards this.
The first original sold comes with a bottle of  Italian wine .
Tell your friends, would love to see you there.  Regards,                Gervase.
ps  I will be there most of the time to help with your art queries.

ART PAVILION AT NEW FOREST SHOW 2010 UPDATE 1.11.09

Quite a few acceptance forms have come in already, but there are still quite a few to come.
Remember to get them in by 31 12 2009 as then I will be inviting artists who are slightly further afield.
This years [2009] show was again very well supported and although we sold roughly a thousand pounds worth  each day we were a bit down on 2008.
Brockenhurst again supported us by giving £500 Many thanks here, and they displayed some wonderful works.
The president and his wifes choice was a picture by Susan Houching. The president being Ken Thornber this year.
  The medallists were G.Dashwood, G Gregory. I Gregory. S L Sibley.
     E Beecroft.         A Price          J Walton     T Chaney.  R Larcombe
     V Garland.        S Yeo.           M Wood.     S Stevens.  F Mason.
S Morris.           A Lindley       J Bull.          Esme Bartlett.  H Lipscombe.
    B Wooler.         K Maunder.     P Hatchley  V Redding   R Tratt  .J Griffiths.

I owe thanks to all the artists who worked on the days before, during and after the show.
The two Malcolms and Kim Dennis and Susan in the office.
To all intents and purposes it`s going to be another good show next year   Just hope the weather keeps fine.

I have been lucky to have had three holidays this year and every week was fine. Stayed in England this year and have just come back from a visit to various places in the Midlands. The `Cavern` in Liverpool was the last place to see as we were married on the month and year of its opening.
But not in it I hasten to add.
Met a very  pleasant couple Wendy and Eric, while at an hotel at Didsbury,  I must recommend the Britannia Hotel near Stockport as we were very pleased with food and service and exceptional value for money.  It is good when you can meet up with nice people and share the table for four with good food and conversation. We really enjoyed it all. Visited Chester and had a tart at Bakewell too.
But now its back to work on the show.

Rupes has bought his house. Sam`s built his canoe and nearly drowned himself [in Australia].
Robert wants to sell his Audi sports car,  Rachaels on holiday in Lanzarote and alls well.
Hope you are well too.            Regards Gervase.

Latest news for August September 2009.
NFASS. ART  PAVILION.  The New Forest Show went well again but the sales were confined to the cheaper end of the picture market. Not all due to the `times` but the weather forecasters also gave an inaccurate forecast of flooding and heavy rain which did not happen.
93,000 people turned up however which was similar to last year. A lot to see and a lot more local stuff this year. Richard Cuzens  [the man in charge] and his team are excellent and I have seen the worries [which would turn me grey all over] sorted out ...`just like that`.
Now,  the cheques are soon to be on their way to artists who sold their works less the 10%
 for the NF charity.
The acceptance forms will follow as soon as I can write out all the labels for the invited artists.
There was only one person who shall be nameless who thought that the standard was not up to his/hers, but this show is not only for the professionals, no, it is also for the better amateurs as well.  I was very pleased with the cross section of differing styles, ranging from a 10 feet high bronze `owl` costing around £100,000  to a washing line picture costing only £60.
This owl was a beautiful piece of work and shows just what a dedicated professional can do,
Any one who is interested in that or in lesser priced smaller works, 2k upwards, in bronze [which are brilliant as I have seen a lot of them] can get in touch with me and I`ll pass it on.
Geoff Dashwood of Ringwood is the sculptor... look up his web site.
There were more than 350 works shown this year.
*   I on behalf of all the artists would like to thank Brockenhurst College FOR GENEROUSLY SPONSORING  the  New Forest Show ART PAVILIION.
*  Also thanks to Ken and Lynn Thornber for choosing the pic of the show, which was by Suzan Houching of Burley
  Thats all for now.                                             Cheers,
                                                                                  Gervase.
note.   I hope to have the usual biennial FAWLEY  ART SHOW at Fawley Hall again around Easter time in 2010.

News update 29 05 09

 NEW FOREST ART TRAIL
Ran mine from18th to the 29th so have now finished. just now in fact. Was a reasonable success too. Met a lot of lovely people.  The only neighbours that troubled themselves to visit however were Sylvie and Bob , it was nice to see you both,  and Margaret from Oxfam, who lives further afield.
Friends from California  also very pleased to see you Maggie Joe [Sean Connery ] and Janie.
Alison from Palo Alto Ca. too.
89 folk turned up  and nobody gave me a bad crit except Dave who said everything was naff except the Kite Surfer pic.
Only sold a couple [thanks Jane] and had one commission but sold all my little prints, and a lot of postcards and notelets.
My wife sold nearly all of Doreen H`s chutneys jams and marmalades raising a good sum for the Oakhaven Hospice.
   And the weather was kind.
RIGHT THEN....... THE NEW FOREST SHOW.
All the artists have been selected now, and I am now waiting to be informed that the marquee has been erected [but this will be sometime yet] then the A team will get to work to erect the screens ready for the 25th 26th JULY reception and hanging of the pictures.
Same as last year... enter the `disabled` car park and carry your works to the ART PAVILION.
The 27th July is to be avoided please, pics on 25th and 26th  9am to 12 midday.
Anyway looking forward to seeing you all.
The teams [of twelve artists] for the three days will know by now and tickets, passes, lunch vouchers etc have been ordered but we won`t get these until much nearer the time..
That`s it then.                            All the best.
                                                                                                         Gervase.

All the best Melvin a good trail.
